We are proud to announce that we are participating in the Voka's Sustainable Business Charter! 🌱

What does this entail?
We will draw up an action plan with at least 10 sustainability objectives linked to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These actions will help us to operate even more consciously and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Sustainable Development Goals

As a company, we attach great importance to sustainable business practices. We are proud of our commitment to a sustainable future and would like to share with you the impact we are already making based on the SDGs.

Moens Packaging works proactively to continuously improve this impact and strives for continuous innovation and change.

01: No poverty

We collaborate with several custom work companies.

02: Not hungry

We have already offered the following programs: Individual Vocational Training (IBO), Dual Learning, Internal Company Training, Work Supervision Programs, Internships, and Student Workers.

Leftovers from meetings or at home are distributed.

03: Good health & prosperity

We are a collection point for plastic bottle caps to support the organization for guide dogs.

We have already participated twice in the Pink March, walking 10,000 steps a day for a month to raise awareness and support breast cancer research.

Minimal overtime to maintain an optimal work-life balance.

04: Quality education

Several internal training courses are offered (e.g., product knowledge, first aid and fire safety training, etc.).

Coaches are assigned to new employees.

Internships, dual work placements, and company visits have already been provided to warehouse management students.

Book lending service for employees.

05: Gender equality

Equal opportunities for everyone.

Time credit and parental leave were already being used by both men and women.

06: Clean water

There is a wadi on Industriestraat in Zele. A wadi temporarily retains rainwater, thereby replenishing the groundwater.

We have installed water dispensers in our three branches. This allows us to offer fresh and tasty water and reduces waste.

07: Sustainable energy

375 solar panels spread across our three locations.

Energy from wind turbines.

In Grembergen, we have a battery and inverter to store our sustainable energy.

All new computer screens are digital LED screens.

Instruction to completely shut down our PC in the evening.

Charging stations at our two sites in Zele.

08: Decent work & economic growth

Good group and hospitalization insurance for all employees.

Individual happiness interviews are conducted with employees on a regular basis.

09: Industry, innovation, and infrastructure

Most forklifts are electric.

Lights with sensors and LED lighting.

Additional insulation on the roof and side walls of the warehouse in Grembergen.

10: Reducing inequality

We strive for and achieve diversity in terms of age groups, ethnicity, and gender.

No alcohol in the workplace, and alcohol-free alternatives are available at staff parties.

11: Sustainable cities & communities

Purchase of new tractors with a sustainability package.

Collaboration with social enterprises.

Bicycle leasing available for employees.

We have a cardboard and foil press that compresses these into bales, which are then recycled separately.

12: Responsible consumption and production

We promote sustainable packaging such as recycled or reconditioned packaging.

Regularly clear out your stock before considering recycling.

Plastic and metal are collected for subsequent processing.

Boxes in various sizes for optimal packaging.

We have switched from 20-micron film to 15/16-micron film.

13: Climate action

Scope 1 and scope 2 of our carbon footprint have been mapped out.

Based on European averages, we can calculate the CO2 emissions per package (estimate).

14: Life in water

Reducing disposable cups.

15: Life on land

We organized a guided walk by VZW Durme for our employees.

We contribute to the purchase and planting of trees and wetlands in collaboration with United Packaging Forest & VZW Durme. In this way, we contribute to local and international fauna and flora.

In Grembergen, we made a conscious decision to remove some parking spaces in order to create an additional green area.

16: Peace, security, and strong public services

Policy statement and sustainability statement have been defined.

Transparent communication with stakeholders via mailings, website, and company visits.

Semi-annual staff meeting with topics including sustainability.

Internal communication with SharePoint, mailings, verbal communication, and internal or external training courses.

17: Partnership to achieve objectives

Annual budget for nature conservation (United Packaging Forest & VZW Durme).

Annual sponsorship budget for sports, culture, and local associations.
