Frequently asked questions about buckets
What volumes of buckets are most commonly used?
In practice, we see that bucket 5 liters, bucket 10 liters and bucket 20 liters are the most popular sizes. Smaller sizes such as bucket 0.5 liters or bucket 3 liters are ideal for consumer packaging, while larger varieties are often chosen for construction, chemical and bulk transportation.
What is the difference between a round and a rectangular bucket?
A round bucket is classic and widely used, while a rectangular bucket stacks more efficiently on pallets and thus can reduce transportation costs. For applications such as glue or fertilizers, rectangular buckets are often the best choice.
Are there special buckets with UN certification?
Yes. We supply UNL buckets (suitable for liquids) and UNS buckets (suitable for solids). Both types are extensively tested according to international transport standards and guarantee safe use with hazardous products.
What is the advantage of a tripple lock or dubble lock bucket?
These locking systems provide an extra secure seal. A double lock bucket already provides solid protection, while a tripple lock bucket is even more resistant to leaks or pressure differences. Ideal for chemical products, greases or paints.
Can I get buckets printed?
Sure. From a minimum of 5,000 pieces, you can have buckets printed with your logo or corporate identity. We work with In-Mould Labeling (IML), a technique in which the printing is applied during production. This gives a durable, scratch-resistant finish.
Are sustainable alternatives available?
Yes. In addition to standard plastic buckets, we also supply recycled buckets and PCR buckets. These are made from recycled polypropylene and are perfect for non-food applications. This way you reduce the carbon footprint of your packaging.
What products can I pack in buckets?
Our buckets are versatile: from bucket of food for sauces or pet food to bucket of chemicals or bucket of medical waste. Applications as a bucket of glue, bucket of paint, bucket of grease or bucket of soap are also possible.
Are buckets suitable for export?
Yes. Thanks to their conical shape and stackability, buckets are ideal for export. When shipping internationally, it's best to choose a stackable bucket with UN certification to ensure you meet all legal requirements.
What is a plastic hobbock and when do I use it?
A plastic hobbock is a large, round bucket with extra reinforcement, suitable for bulk applications in industry or chemistry. They are particularly robust and available in volumes up to 20 liters.
Does Moens Packaging also offer small quantities of buckets?
Yes. Although we are a wholesale bucket company, you can also order smaller quantities. That's handy for test productions or SMEs who don't want to stockpile a large amount.
Can I choose between transparent and colored buckets?
Absolute. Transparent buckets are practical for visually checking the fill level. Colored buckets provide additional UV protection or allow color coding, which is useful in the food industry or with hazardous materials.
Are there buckets suitable for automatic filling or closing lines?
Yes. Our buckets are designed with uniform sizes and stable edges, making them compatible with automated filling and sealing systems. This increases production speed and reduces the risk of errors.
What temperature resistance do plastic buckets have?
Standard plastic buckets in PP are suitable for use up to approx. 80 °C. For hot-filled or higher temperatures, we offer special versions with thicker walls or additional barrier layers.
Can I use buckets for solvent-based products?
Yes, provided you choose the right kind. For products such as glue or paint, we recommend buckets with special coatings or UN certification. For aggressive substances, a metal bucket may also be the better choice.
Are there options for antistatic buckets?
Anti-static buckets are available for applications in ATEX environments or with solvents and powders. These reduce the risk of electrostatic discharge and increase safety.
How are buckets tested for safety?
UN-certified buckets undergo rigorous testing, including drop tests, stacking tests and leak tightness tests. This ensures that the packaging can be used safely in transport and storage.
What is the difference between a paint bucket and a standard bucket?
A paint bucket has a tight-fitting lid suitable for liquid and viscous products. They often have a metal handle and sturdy rim to withstand frequent opening and closing.
Does Moens also offer special solutions for export?
Yes. For exports, we recommend rectangular buckets or stackable buckets with UN certification. These optimize palletization and comply with international transport regulations.
Can I order buckets in small test sets?
Although we are a wholesaler, you can also order smaller quantities. This is useful for trial productions, test markets or companies that want to validate a package before ordering in bulk.
